Chappell Roan’s Bold Look at the 2026 Grammys: What Inspired Her Style?
Chappell Roan turned heads on the red carpet at the 2026 Grammy Awards with a daring look that offered more than meets the eye. The singer’s striking ensemble, designed by Mugler, featured a form-fitting burgundy chiffon drape held in place with metal piercings, generating significant buzz at the event.
Makeup artist Sasha Glasser discussed the intricacies behind Roan’s standout appearance in an interview with Allure Magazine. Although the dress appeared as if Roan were wearing nothing at all, Glasser revealed that skin-toned prosthetics were expertly crafted for each breast to complete the illusion.
The outfit was further customized with temporary tattoos on Roan’s chest and back, an addition that Glasser acknowledged was a last-minute decision. “There are different ways to design tattoos for makeup, but because we decided on the look the night before, I had to print the designs out at Staples 30 minutes before the store closed,” Glasser said.
Roan’s striking appearance not only generated conversation but also showcased the expertise of her makeup team. Responding to the mixed reactions, Roan noted, “Giggling because I don’t even think this is THAT outrageous of an outfit.”
Makeup artist Glasser emphasized the importance of the prosthetics in achieving the desired look. “It helps when you have good prosthetics, but it’s also a testament to our skills that we’ve worked so long on perfecting,” she stated, showcasing the intricate details behind Roan’s memorable red carpet moment.
