CBS News Expands Investigative Team With New Additions
CBS News has announced the expansion of its investigative unit with the addition of five new journalists, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to in-depth journalism. The organization stated that this growth aims to strengthen its ability to produce indispensable reporting that holds power accountable across various platforms.
The newly appointed members of the investigative team include former Washington Post journalist Daniel Gilbert, Gabe Kaminsky from The Free Press, and current CBS News staffers Laura Geller, Jake Rosenwasser, and Callie Teitelbaum.
Bari Weiss, editor-in-chief of CBS News, remarked, “We are committed to producing more revelatory journalism every day. Our job is to tell our audience something they didn’t know that impacts their world.” Weiss highlighted the unit’s recent success with its I-Unit’s exclusive investigation into hospice care fraud, which prompted Congressional action. She emphasized the continued investment in a well-resourced investigative journalism team capable of delivering impactful reporting.
According to the announcement, the newly expanded team aims to enhance CBS News’ focus on providing compelling, incisive reporting that is not available elsewhere. The expansion will prioritize exclusive coverage of topics such as health and wellness, politics, sports, and the misuse of taxpayer dollars.
Matthew Mosk, senior investigative editorial director, stated that the unit will produce work across the News division with an emphasis on engaging new audiences through various digital platforms. “This is just the beginning of an expansion as we continue to search inside and outside the company for talented journalists with a hunger for eye-popping original reporting,” he noted.
