Caught in the Act: Shoplifting Suspects in Chino
Four Arrested in Attempted Shoplifting at Chino Kohl’s Store
The Chino Police Department reported that four suspects were taken into custody Wednesday after attempting to steal clothing from a local Kohl’s store using a getaway van previously linked to another theft.
In a video shared on social media, police captured the moments of the thwarted theft, where the suspects were seen trying to escape with a shopping cart loaded with stolen items including Levi’s jeans.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. as the group—three men and one woman—browsed the store, collecting merchandise and filling their cart. As they exited to the parking lot, security footage revealed that their escape vehicle was already backing out of a parking spot.
Just as the suspects made a dash for the van, Chino police patrol cars arrived on the scene. While they attempted to flee in the van with its doors still open, officers quickly apprehended them. The police coordinated a swift response, aided by their Real Time Crime Center, which helped track the vehicle after it fled onto the freeway.
Upon canvassing the area, officers arrested all four suspects, one of whom had an outstanding felony no-bail warrant. The officers recovered the stolen merchandise, which was returned to the store, and confirmed that no one was injured during the event.
“Don’t commit crime in Chino,” the department concluded in their social media post.
