The couple got engaged just over a year prior, during a romantic proposal at Crystal Cove Cottages in Newport Beach, California. Cassie recalled being "completely caught off guard" when Brighton, 28, proposed with a 5.04-carat elongated cushion-cut engagement ring. "My reaction was immediately, ‘Oh my gosh, yes!’" she recounted to People. Michelle played a pivotal role in the ring’s design, collaborating with jeweler Lake McGuire to add a personal touch.

Reflecting on the proposal, Cassie shared a humorous regret, saying, "The only thing I would have changed is, I wish I did my hair."

Cassie and Brighton began dating in August 2020 after shifting from friendship to romance.
