Cass Lacelle, Star of Freeform’s ‘Grand Cayman,’ Passes Away at 34
Cass Lacelle, a prominent figure in Freeform’s Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, has passed away at the age of 34, as confirmed by her family and friends.
In a heartfelt message shared on her Instagram account, Lacelle’s loved ones announced that she died on February 11 after a “courageous battle with cancer.”
“It is with profound sadness that we share the news that our beloved Cass has passed after her short but incredibly courageous battle with cancer,” the post read, signed by Bianca Mora, Meg Chandler, Ella, and Kylie Nicholls.
The statement continued, “Cass leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured. She is the definition of memorable; in just 34 years, she made an extraordinary impact on everyone who crossed her path. She taught us that life is precious, meant to be embraced wholeheartedly and never wasted. Boredom was her biggest enemy. Cass had a rare gift for making people feel truly alive and bringing everyone together; she was the glue.”
Her friends emphasized that Lacelle’s “ability to be there in a meaningful way for so many people was a super power,” and they expressed hope that others would find comfort in the memories shared with her. They noted that because of her far-reaching influence, she desired one final post to be shared.
The message concluded with, “Our dearest Cass, you have been very brave, for so very long. You did not yield. Forever, our Fireheart.”
Lacelle starred in the inaugural season of Freeform’s Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise, described by the network as a “docusoap” that follows affluent locals and expats as they navigate complex relationships and careers on the idyllic island. The series aired in 2024 and consisted of ten episodes.
In May 2025, Lacelle revealed her diagnosis of Mucinous adenocarcinoma, a rare type of cancer that begins in epithelial tissue. In an update from January 4, she disclosed that her cancer had returned and metastasized to her liver, stomach, abdominal lining, and omentum. She mentioned being hospitalized since December 2025 and undergoing chemotherapy.
