Cannes Market Expands with AI for Talent Summit and New Creator Economy Summit to Support Innovation
The Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film is set to expand its AI For Talent Summit, slated for May 15 and 16. Following a successful inaugural edition in 2022, this year’s invite-only summit will gather top executives from the film and technology sectors to investigate the latest applications of artificial intelligence in creative and business processes.
Key themes for this year’s summit will include the integration of AI into production workflows, ethical and responsible AI use, and educational initiatives, showcased through real-world examples. Details regarding the speaker lineup are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
This summit is part of a series of forward-thinking events organized under the Cannes Next initiative, which focuses on innovation within the industry.
Most of the Cannes Next activities will take place in the Village Innovation, located on the Pantiero side of the Village International. This 1,000 m² space, overlooking the old port, will feature a large virtual production demonstration stage along with booths and conference areas.
In addition to the Innovation Village, the Immersive Market and Cannes Immersive Competition will be hosted at the Carlton Hotel. This year, a newly configured demo space will accommodate 80 to 225 participants simultaneously, a marked shift from last year’s individual project presentations. The new format aims to facilitate large-scale, multi-user experiences and is being promoted as “the first of its kind” for an immersive competition.
Selected works will rotate within the new 450 m² venue, designed to highlight a variety of formats, from virtual reality experiences to large-scale video mapping. The Immersive Market will also utilize this space to showcase 150 selected immersive producers and catalog holders, allowing them to present live demos to 90 leading distributors and curators.
In a notable addition, the market will introduce its inaugural Creator Economy Summit, addressing the increasing intersection of digital content creation with long-form storytelling and film production. This summit will explore various connections, including the adaptation of digital IP into cinematic projects, talent scouting, and innovative audience engagement and marketing strategies.
Furthermore, the market will benefit from a revamped long-standing online database and networking platform, Cinando. The Marché du Film Online, developed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, will fully transition to Cinando’s updated system, enhancing connectivity among participants.
“We advocate innovation that serves both artistic creativity and the growth of the industry as a whole,” stated Executive Director Guillaume Esmiol. “We are dedicated to supporting and driving innovation, from technological advances that continuously reshape how films are conceived, produced, and distributed, to a broader mindset that reimagines business models, partnerships, and relationships.”
The Cannes Marché du Film will run from May 12 to 20, coinciding with the Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 12 to 23.
