Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant’s New Rom-Com Welcomes Josh Segarra and Sherry Cola at Amazon MGM Studios

Josh Segarra and Sherry Cola Join Upcoming Romantic Comedy at Amazon MGM Studios

Josh Segarra, known for his role in Best Medicine, and comedian Sherry Cola, recognized for her work in Joy Ride, are set to join the cast of an unnamed romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant at Amazon MGM Studios.

Merchant will direct the film and co-wrote the screenplay with John Butler. The production team includes Lee Eisenberg, Merchant himself, and Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Josh Fagen, with Natalie Sandy serving as executive producer.

In this romantic comedy, Merchant portrays a workaholic Brit employed at an upscale hotel in New York City who needs a wife for appearances. He makes a deal with Diaz’s character, a struggling stand-up comic in need of health insurance. Their initially transactional “fake marriage” evolves into a surprise romance.

Segarra currently stars in Best Medicine, a popular Fox comedy inspired by the UK’s Doc Martin. His extensive television credits include roles in Apple TV’s The Big Door Prize, Starz’ Heels, HBO Max’s The Other Two, and Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black, among others. Notable film credits include Trainwreck, Overboard, and the Emmy-nominated Netflix film Christmas on the Square. Segarra is represented by ATA Management, CAA, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Cola recently joined the cast of Disney’s Camp Rock 3 and will also feature in You’re Dating a Narcissist! opposite Marisa Tomei, which is set to be released in theaters this month. On television, Cola reprised her role in the second season of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This and appears in the third season of Apple TV+’s Shrinking. Her other credits include Bride Hard, Shortcomings, Good Trouble, and Pixar’s Turning Red. Cola is represented by CAA, Stark Management, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis.
