Amazon MGM Studios Enlists Notable Cast for Upcoming Romantic Comedy
Amazon MGM Studios has announced the casting of Fabrizio Guido, Lisa Gilroy, Myra Lucretia Taylor, and Dustin Ybarra for their untitled romantic comedy featuring Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant.
Stephen Merchant, who also directs the film, co-wrote the screenplay with John Butler. The narrative centers around a workaholic Brit, portrayed by Merchant, employed at an upscale New York hotel. In need of a wife for appearances, he makes a deal with a struggling stand-up comic, played by Diaz, who is seeking health insurance. What begins as a transactional arrangement evolves into an unexpectedly humorous romance. The cast also includes Sherry Cola and Josh Segarra.
Producers for the film are Lee Eisenberg, Stephen Merchant, and Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Josh Fagen from Point Grey Pictures. Natalie Sandy will serve as executive producer.
Fabrizio Guido has recently appeared in several notable projects, including the Netflix series Running Point, HBO Max’s Perry Mason season two, Netflix’s Mr. Iglesias, and Good Burger 2, now streaming on Paramount+. He is represented by 23 Management Group, CESD Talent Agency, UTA, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher.
Lisa Gilroy’s filmography includes The Studio, Twisted Metal, Interior Chinatown, Man on the Inside, Shrinking, and the series Jury Duty. She is set to appear in upcoming films such as Super Troopers 3, Office Romance, and You Deserve Each Other for Amazon MGM Studios. Gilroy is represented by OPE Partners, WME, and Ziffren Brittenham.
Myra Lucretia Taylor recently featured in the critically acclaimed film American Fiction for Amazon MGM Studios’ Orion Pictures. On Broadway, she earned a Tony nomination for her role in TINA and has appeared in the Tony Award-winning revival of Nine. Taylor’s Off-Broadway work includes a Drama Desk Award-winning performance in School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play. Her other credits encompass Ben is Back, The Big Sick, Atlanta, Poker Face, Hunters, and Girls. She is represented by BRS/Gage Talent Agency.
Dustin Ybarra is recognized for his recurring role on Ghosts and has appeared in films such as One of Them Days and Jordan Peele’s Us. His television credits span Kevin Probably Saves the World, Us & Them, Californication, The Goldbergs, Gotham, Battle Creek, Stand-Up Revolution, and Live at Gotham. Ybarra’s film repertoire also includes works like Ted 2, Hop, We Bought a Zoo, Gay Dude, 21 & Over, and Date and Switch.
