Bunnie Xo Shares Her Dream Casting for the ‘Stripped Down’ Film
Bunnie Xo Shares Casting Dream for Film Adaptation of Her Memoir
Bunnie Xo, whose bestselling memoir Stripped Down has captivated readers, has revealed her preference for an actor to portray her in the film adaptation: none other than Jack Black.
Following her rise to the top of the New York Times Bestsellers List, the podcaster and wife of Jelly Roll is set to have her story brought to life on screen. Just hours after announcing a partnership with 101 Studios, known for producing the Emmy-nominated series Yellowstone, Bunnie made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss her upcoming project.
"Listen," she told the live audience, “Jack Black is daddy, okay.”
The announcement of the film adaptation, titled Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, was reported exclusively by Variety on March 12. The project is moving forward rapidly due to a first-look deal with Universal Pictures, catching even Bunnie off guard.
Her memoir presents a candid and at times harsh reflection on a tumultuous life marked by challenges, including abusive relationships, multiple overdoses, and a serious car accident. "It’s a miracle I’m alive," she shared, emphasizing the gravity of her experiences.
"I didn’t write this book for money," Bunnie explained to Kimmel. "I didn’t even know that I could make it on the New York Times Bestseller List when I wrote this book." She began writing in 2019 with the goal of sharing her story to connect with others. "It’s just taken on a life of its own."
Through her writing, Bunnie has found a voice for a community affected by trauma, highlighting the importance of sharing one’s story. "We are all generational curse-breakers," she noted, emphasizing the ability of personal struggles to resonate widely.
Bunnie’s own journey took another turn when she met Jelly Roll at a Moonshine Bandits concert in Las Vegas. Their initial interactions, filled with humorous anecdotes about his van and their dynamic, laid the groundwork for their relationship. "He’s so skinny now. I’m so proud of him," she commented, reflecting on his journey of weight loss.
Despite their shared experiences, Bunnie admits that her husband hasn’t read her memoir, noting the complexities that arise in understanding each other’s pasts. Their playful banter continues at home, where they joke about her skipping his songs on music streaming services.
The film adaptation marks Bunnie’s entry into the film industry, and she has already expressed intentions to write another book. "I want to let this one resonate," she explained, contemplating a future project titled The Little Black Book, which would delve into her previous profession.
