Bugonia to Stream on Peacock After the Holidays
This particular conspiracy theory is real: Bugonia has a confirmed streaming date. Yorgos Lanthimos’s latest collaboration with Emma Stone will be available on Peacock starting December 26.
The surreal sci-fi black comedy from Focus Features features Stone as Michelle Fuller, a high-powered CEO who is kidnapped by two conspiracy-obsessed young men, played by Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis. They believe she is an alien bent on destroying Earth. The film also stars Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone and serves as the English-language remake of South Korean filmmaker Jang Joon-hwan’s 2003 film, Save the Green Planet!
After premiering at the Venice Film Festival, Bugonia opened in limited release on October 24, achieving the year’s best per-screen debut. The film expanded to a wider theatrical release on Halloween night and has since grossed $39 million globally, with $17.7 million generated in North America. It is nominated for three Golden Globes and three Critics Choice Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress accolades.
The screenplay was written by Will Tracy, and the film’s production team includes Lanthimos, Stone, Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee, and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko.
