BTS is set to bring their new album, ARIRANG, to fans in New York City with a special event hosted by Spotify. The announcement was made on Monday, March 16, revealing plans for an exclusive fan gathering that will feature a performance and Q&A session for the dedicated ARMY.
The event, titled Spotify x BTS: SWIMSIDE, will occur on March 23, just three days following the album release. A select group of fans will have the opportunity to join the band—comprising RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—for immersive, album-themed experiences. The venue for the event has yet to be disclosed.
This announcement comes just days before the highly anticipated launch of ARIRANG, a 14-track project that has been years in the making. After a two-year hiatus focused on solo endeavors and fulfilling military obligations, BTS reunited last year and promptly began work on the album, which follows their 2020 Billboard 200 chart-topping release, Be.
The fan event is one part of BTS’s broader efforts to engage with their audience in anticipation of the new album. Spotify is also introducing an in-app Easter egg hunt, allowing fans to discover exclusive audio messages from the members, alongside a BTS Music Quiz that tests fans on their band knowledge. Both features will launch on March 20.
Earlier this month, Google initiated a mobile clue hunt connected to ARIRANG.
Additionally, BTS plans to celebrate the album release with a free concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21. This will precede their extensive 82-date world tour.
In a February cover story with GQ, Suga highlighted the album’s variety, stating, “We have a diversity of genres. It’s going to be quite different from the BTS albums and sounds that you’ve been listening to. You’re going to see a more mature side of BTS this time around.”
