Bridgerton Season 5 Is Set for Release in 2027: What Fans Can Expect
Netflix Announces Fifth Season of Bridgerton Set for 2027 Release
In a significant announcement during Netflix’s upfront presentation, Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria confirmed that the fifth season of the popular period drama Bridgerton will premiere in 2027. This marks the first time in the series’ history that two consecutive seasons will be released in consecutive calendar years.
Originally launched in December 2020 as a form of entertainment during the pandemic, Bridgerton quickly became a global phenomenon. The series has seen a steady release schedule, with Season 2 debuting in 2022, followed by Seasons 3 and 4 in 2024 and 2026, respectively.
To expedite the viewing experience for fans, Netflix began production on Season 5 in March, shortly after the release of Part 2 of Season 4 on February 26. This timeline represents the fastest turnaround yet for the series, surpassing the two-month interval that preceded the filming of Season 4 after the conclusion of Season 3.
Season 5 will focus on Francesca Bridgerton, portrayed by Hannah Dodd, who is navigating life two years after the loss of her husband, John Stirling. As she contemplates reentering the marriage market for practical reasons, her journey will be shaped by the reappearance of John’s cousin, Michaela, played by Masali Baduza. This dynamic will lead Francesca to question her pragmatic aspirations versus her deeper desires.
New cast members Tega Alexander, Jacqueline Boatswain, and Gemma Knight Jones will join the ensemble, which is executive produced by showrunner Jess Brownell, along with Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Tom Verica, and Chris Van Dusen.
Bridgerton has consistently performed well on Netflix, featuring in the Global Top 10 over 60 times and reaching the local Top 10 in every tracked country. Seasons 1 and 3 are listed among the platform’s Most Popular TV shows of all time, each garnering over 100 million views within the first 91 days of release.
