Bradley Whitford Shares Insights on Character Development in Season 4 of ‘The Diplomat’
Bradley Whitford, recently elevated to series regular for the upcoming fourth season of The Diplomat, is hinting at exciting developments for his character in the Netflix political thriller.
While attending the red carpet premiere of the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him, the actor previewed the storyline for First Gentleman Todd Penn.
Whitford’s co-star, Allison Janney, who has also been promoted for the new season, plays President Grace Penn. Janney’s character was introduced in Season 2 as Vice President and ascended to the presidency in the final moments of the season finale. During Season 3, both characters returned as the series focused on the unraveling relationship between titular diplomat Kate (Keri Russell) and Hal (Rufus Sewell), particularly after Kate was overlooked for the vice presidential position in favor of Hal. In this latest season, Todd and Kate contemplate the implications of the new administration’s dynamics and their own feelings of betrayal.
