Bobby Cannavale Cheers on Rose Byrne for Her First Oscar Nomination, Calling Her a Wonderful Mom and Friend

Bobby Cannavale honored his long-term partner Rose Byrne on social media following the announcement of her first-ever Academy Award nomination.

On January 22, Byrne, 46, earned a nomination for Best Actress at the upcoming 2026 Oscars for her role in *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*. Celebrating the moment, Cannavale, 55, shared a screenshot of their FaceTime call on Instagram, marking the occasion with a heartfelt message. The couple has been together since 2013 and has two children.

In his post, Cannavale wrote, “Academy Award Nominee Best Actress Winner Best Mama, Friend, Human What a moment @fullyrosebyrne. Also, thanks Google Home for letting me know someone walked in front of our house, again,” highlighting a Google Home notification he received during their call.

Byrne’s nomination places her in competition with fellow actresses Jessie Buckley (*Hamnet*), Kate Hudson (*Song Sung Blue*), Renate Reinsve (*Sentimental Value*), and Emma Stone (*Bugonia*). Earlier this month, she won a Golden Globe and was also nominated for the Critics Choice Awards. Additionally, she is slated to compete at the Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, on March 1.

Friends of the couple reacted to Cannavale’s post, with Naomi Watts humorously inquiring, “Love this so much!! Are you bringing the bearded dragon?” This comment referenced a new family pet Cannavale acquired while Byrne was away at the Golden Globe Awards. Amanda Seyfried and Omar Benson Miller both expressed their support through emojis, while Melanie Lynskey celebrated the news by saying, “Sometimes the world makes sense!! So thrilled about this!” Michelle Monaghan added, “The most deserving!!”

Byrne and Cannavale first met in 2012 through mutual friends and made their red carpet debut as a couple in June 2013. They are parents to two sons, Rocco, 9, and Rafa, 8. Cannavale also has an older son, Jake, from his previous marriage to Jenny Lumet.

Although Byrne and Cannavale have not officially married, Byrne stated in a November interview that she considers their relationship as such. “We just haven’t gone to the courthouse yet, but we’re married,” she explained.

Conan O’Brien is set to host the Oscars live on March 15, starting at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and streaming on Hulu. Notably, the award show will transition to YouTube in 2029.
