Black Phone 2 Is Coming Soon to Peacock—Here’s When to Watch
"Black Phone 2" Set to Stream on Peacock January 16
Universal’s highly anticipated sequel, Black Phone 2, directed by Scott Derrickson, will begin streaming exclusively on Peacock starting January 16. This announcement follows the film’s successful theatrical release in October, where it grossed over $132 million worldwide.
Written by Derrickson and his collaborator C. Robert Cargill, Black Phone 2 revisits the chilling narrative established in the original film, featuring the malevolent serial killer known as The Grabber, played by Ethan Hawke. The sequel picks up as Finn, portrayed by Mason Thames, faces torment from beyond the grave as his sister Gwen, played by Madeline McGraw, becomes a target. As they grapple with haunting visions, the siblings aim to confront a killer who grows increasingly powerful even after death.
The film is produced by Jason Blum alongside Derrickson and Cargill and marks the second adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story. Hill also served as an executive producer. Alongside returning cast members Thames, McGraw, and Hawke, actor Demián Bichir joins the ensemble for this chilling sequel.
Set against the backdrop of 1978 Colorado, the narrative continues from the first film, which introduced audiences to 13-year-old Finney’s harrowing abduction by The Grabber. Held captive in a soundproof basement, Finney discovers a disconnected black rotary phone that mysteriously connects him to the voices of past victims, providing guidance and clues for his escape. Meanwhile, Gwen’s psychic visions may play a pivotal role in locating her brother.
