Betty Gilpin Joins the Cast of FX’s ‘The Lowdown’ Season 2 Alongside Ethan Hawke
EXCLUSIVE: Actress Betty Gilpin has been cast in the second season of the FX series The Lowdown, created by Sterlin Harjo. She will portray the character Ginger, joining series lead Ethan Hawke.
The first season of The Lowdown centers on Lee Raybon, played by Hawke, a citizen journalist and self-described “truthstorian” from Tulsa. Raybon’s relentless quest for truth often lands him in perilous situations as he strives to unveil corruption and the hidden issues within his city.
The narrative escalates when Raybon publishes an exposé on the influential Washberg family, leading to the suspicious suicide of family member Dale Washberg, played by Tim Blake Nelson. Following clues left by Washberg, Lee embarks on a mission to uncover the deeper circumstances surrounding his death.
In addition to Hawke, Season 1 featured performances from Keith David and guest stars including Kyle MacLachlan, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Kaniehtiio Horn, Tracy Letts, and Peter Dinklage, along with the late Graham Greene.
The Lowdown received a renewal for a second season in January, with production scheduled to begin this spring in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The series has garnered critical acclaim, being recognized by the AFI Awards as one of the top 10 outstanding TV programs of 2025.
Created by Harjo, the series is produced by FX Productions, with all episodes from Season 1 currently available for streaming on Hulu.
