Becca Tobin from ‘Glee’ Responds to Matthew Koma’s Mom Group Controversy: “It’s Just for His Attention”

Becca Tobin, known for her role in Glee, recently shared her insights regarding the ongoing drama between Ashley Tisdale and Hilary Duff on her podcast, The LadyGang, aired on Tuesday, January 13.
“I don’t know a lot of the inner workings of the toxic mom group,” Tobin remarked. “For those of you who have been under a rock, Ashley Tisdale did an article with The Cut and she talked about how she’s in this mom group and it started to become very high school, very cliquey. She didn’t name any names. She just kind of did this whole thing and I can see both sides.”
Tobin noted that many mothers encounter similar situations but indicated that Tisdale should have exercised more caution. “It’s relatable. So many women deal with this as they become moms and navigate the mom groups. And so I understand why she did it. But what I don’t understand is that somebody in her life should have told her ‘The internet sleuths of America, of the world, are so incredible that they’re going to know within three seconds that this article comes out exactly who you’re talking about,’” Tobin explained. “I don’t think she understands the level at which people are watching her. And that era, the Hilary Duffs and the Ashley Tisdales, they still have such hardcore stans that there are people still invested in their every move on social media.”
However, Tobin expressed disapproval of musician Matthew Koma, who defended his wife in the dispute. “I don’t think there’s any loser in this group to me, except for Hilary Duff’s husband. I think it is so gross when husbands jump in and get petty. Especially since Ashley did not name names,” she stated. “If Ashley had come out and said Hilary was said person being a mean girl, I would understand the husband coming to her defense. But I’m really rubbed the wrong way when a man inserts himself like this, and it’s solely for him to get attention.”
“He attacked a woman,” Tobin continued. “He called her self-obsessed or whatever he said, something about her being self-absorbed. And I think that’s so tacky. I would be so upset with my husband.”
Billboard has reached out to representatives for Duff and Koma for comment.
Following Tisdale’s essay, speculation arose regarding the identities of other mothers involved, with names like Duff, Mandy Moore, and Meghan Trainor surfacing. Koma subsequently responded on social media. “When You’re The Most Self Obsessed Tone Deaf Person On Earth, Other Moms Tend To Shift Focus To Their Actual Toddlers,” read a fabricated headline on a mocked-up cover referencing Tisdale’s The Cut article. The subheadline stated: “A Mom Group Tell All Through A Father’s Eyes.”
