Authorities Seek Information on Driver Involved in Accident with Deputy in Commerce
Authorities are actively searching for a driver who struck a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy in the city of Commerce early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred while the driver reportedly performed donuts in a gas station parking lot before colliding with the deputy’s vehicle.
The deputy was taken to a hospital following the crash but has since been released and is recovering at home, as confirmed by a department spokesperson.
After the collision, the driver fled the scene, traveling approximately two miles to East Los Angeles, where they are suspected of hitting at least two additional cars. One affected vehicle owner reported that the impact was so forceful it shook her awake shortly after midnight.
“The truck was really smashed,” she stated. “It’s bad; he should have stayed behind, but he just took off. He even locked his car, I think, too.”
The driver responsible for the damage remains at large as the search continues.
