Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor Becomes a Regular Cast Member on CBS’s ‘Einstein’
Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor has joined the cast of “Einstein,” a new CBS drama series featuring Matthew Gray Gubler and Melissa Fumero. The series, currently in production, is set to be part of CBS’s 2026-27 broadcast season.
In her role as Captain Frost, a veteran police officer, Ellis-Taylor brings a wealth of experience with ten thousand hours in the field. With retirement on the horizon, her character is eagerly anticipating her next chapter alongside her partner.
“Einstein” centers on Lewis Einstein, played by Gubler, who is the brilliant yet aimless great-grandson of Albert Einstein. As a professor at Princeton, Lewis’s casual approach to life often lands him in trouble with the law. He eventually finds purpose in assisting Teri, portrayed by Fumero, a detective tasked with solving challenging cases.
The intriguing premise showcases Lewis’s struggle with his intellect and legacy, as he navigates the dynamics of academia and criminal investigations. His journey may finally provide him with the direction he has been seeking.
The executive production team of “Einstein” includes Andy Breckman, Randy Zisk, Michael Rauch, and others, with Gubler also serving as a producer. CBS Studios is responsible for the series.
In addition to her new role, Ellis-Taylor will soon be seen in the Apple TV crime drama “Lucky.” She has recently completed work on several projects, including “‘Tis SO Sweet” for Netflix and “Lucky Strike.” Her film credits include notable works like “Nickel Boys,” Ava DuVernay’s “Origin,” and Lee Daniels’ “The Deliverance.”
Ellis-Taylor earned an Academy Award nomination for her performance as Oracene Price in “King Richard,” the mother of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams.
On television, her notable appearances include roles in “Justified: City Primeval,” “When They See Us,” and “Lovecraft Country,” for which she received Emmy nominations. She is represented by CAA and TMT Entertainment Group.
