Singer D4vd Charged with First-Degree Murder in Death of Celeste Rivas
Los Angeles, CA—D4vd, a 21-year-old singer and TikTok star, has been charged with first-degree murder and multiple other offenses in connection with the tragic death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas. Rivas was reported missing in the spring of 2025, and her remains were discovered on September 8, 2025, in the front trunk of a Tesla that was impounded in Los Angeles.
Authorities indicated that Celeste’s death likely occurred around April 23, 2025. The car, registered to D4vd, had been reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills and was parked there for over a month before its discovery. The medical examiner’s office determined that she died from multiple penetrating injuries, suggesting the possibility of stabbing.
In addition to the murder charge, D4vd faces allegations of continuous sexual abuse of a minor and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors revealed during a mid-April court hearing that devices belonging to him contained a "significant amount" of child pornography.
D4vd was expected to appear in court on Wednesday for a hearing that may set the timeline for future proceedings, including a preliminary hearing to determine whether the case will advance to trial. At a recent court date, Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman emphasized the prosecution’s eagerness to begin these proceedings, citing the considerable evidence compiled over the past year, including data from digital devices owned by D4vd.
During a previous hearing, Deputy District Attorney Silverman noted the emotional weight of the case, reminding the judge that Celeste was killed approximately one year ago. D4vd, appearing in court in an orange jumpsuit, pleaded not guilty to the charges and has maintained his innocence through his defense attorneys, who assert that the evidence will prove he was not involved in Rivas’ death.
Celeste was last seen in Lake Elsinore, California, on April 5, 2024. A forensic investigation later confirmed her identity. Her family, still residing in Lake Elsinore, expressed their gratitude to law enforcement for their diligent work in the case.
In a statement, Celeste’s parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, said, "We would like to thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office for their hard work. We would also like to thank the people of Lake Elsinore for all their support."
With the case drawing significant public attention, District Attorney Nathan Hochman raised concerns about the circumstances leading to the charges. He indicated that Celeste had visited D4vd’s residence shortly before her disappearance and had become a critical witness in an ongoing investigation regarding a potential sexual relationship between them.
As the legal proceedings unfold, D4vd faces severe penalties if convicted. Charges include special circumstances that could lead to life in prison or even the death penalty. His legal team has vowed to conduct a vigorous defense, highlighting their position that their client did not cause Rivas’ death.
D4vd’s rise to fame has been marked by viral hits on TikTok, where he boasts 3.8 million followers and record deals with major labels. He recently released his debut album, “Withered,” and was on a world tour at the time of Rivas’ remains being found.
Further developments in the case are anticipated as court dates approach, with both the prosecution and defense preparing for what promises to be a high-stakes legal battle.
