Ashton Kutcher is setting the record straight about his bathing habits following a 2021 podcast appearance alongside his wife, Mila Kunis, which sparked speculation about their personal hygiene. During an interview related to his new role in FX’s The Beauty, Kutcher emphasized that he showers regularly.

While discussing his physical preparation for the role of The Corporation, a character in the FX body horror thriller co-created by Ryan Murphy, Kutcher reflected on the comments that ignited the showering controversy. “It was the craziest thing of all time,” he remarked. “We made a comment at one point, and people were like, ‘Does he stink? Does he smell?'”

In the same conversation, Kutcher reiterated that he does maintain personal hygiene: “I shower, I go to the gym, I shower,” he affirmed, prompting laughter from co-star Anthony Ramos, who added, “I can confirm my boy showers.”

Kutcher, who stars frequently shirtless in the series, explained the rigorous training regimen he undertook to prepare for the role. “I’ve been sitting in an office chair doing venture capital,” he said. “I got a trainer—his name is Robbie Egan—who comes to my house at 5 a.m. before I start work and really pushes me.” After a series of intensive workouts, Kutcher noted, “I got in shape” and even made time for grooming prior to filming.

This role marks a significant shift for Kutcher, previously known for lighter characters in projects such as the rom-com Your Place or Mine and the Netflix series That ’90s Show. Kutcher described the character, The Corporation, as “a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug,” emphasizing the complexity and intrigue of the role.

Praising Ryan Murphy as a “master of his craft,” Kutcher expressed appreciation for the opportunity to bring such a character to life, describing the experience as both rewarding and fulfilling. “It’s really the most fun I think I’ve ever had playing a character,” he remarked.

FX’s The Beauty is set to premiere with three episodes on Wednesday, January 21, starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and will also be available for streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
