Ariana Grande has announced the title of her new album, Petal, which may evoke images of delicacy, but promises to tackle more intense themes.
In an Instagram video shared on Thursday, May 7, the pop sensation provided insights into her upcoming project. Grande emphasized that the album does not shy away from controversial topics, stating, “It’s a little feral. It’s definitely from a place I’ve been maybe too shy or polite to tap into before.”
“This kind of just feels like, ‘F–k it,’” she expressed in the clip.
Grande first revealed Petal at the end of April, describing it in a press release as “something that is full of life.” The album follows her 2024 Billboard 200 chart-topping record, Eternal Sunshine, and features songs about navigating through adversity. “It’s kind of about breaking up with all different kinds of negative attachments, whether it’s my own monsters in my own head, external voices, things that no longer serve me,” she added.
Before the album’s release on July 31, Grande will embark on her Eternal Sunshine Tour, commencing on June 6. This marks her first tour in seven years, during which she will perform across North America, culminating with ten shows at the O2 Arena in London.
