Anok Yai Responds to Outfits Claims from the 2024 Met Gala
Model Anok Yai Addresses Urination Rumor at Met Gala
Model Anok Yai has firmly dismissed claims that she was involved in an embarrassing incident at the Met Gala, where an unnamed attendee allegedly urinated through their dress. The speculation arose following an article by the Washington Post on May 4 that explored the challenges celebrities face using restrooms in elaborate outfits.
Mickey Freeman, a fashion stylist, recounted a client’s struggles with a "couture sheer mesh jumpsuit," which featured intricate hand-stitched Swarovski crystals and pearls. While he refrained from naming the client or specifying the event dates, he shared that the client’s zipper malfunctioned, leaving him to sew her into the gown. Freeman noted that during the event, the client tore a hole in the outfit due to an urgent need to use the restroom.
The Washington Post speculated that Yai might be the individual involved in the incident, citing her outfit from the 2024 Met Gala as fitting the description provided by Freeman. In response, Yai issued a passionate statement on social media on May 9, stating, "how dare you misalign my character and imply that I ripped my outfit and peed on myself during the Met Gala of 2024. Fact check next time! Are you crazy?" She further challenged the Washington Post to provide any photos backing the claims.
The newspaper has yet to respond to Yai’s remarks.
Yai attended the Met Gala in May 2024 wearing a striking Swarovski bodysuit adorned with 98,000 crystals, complemented by 200 carats of diamond jewelry. Recently, she returned for the 2026 event, marking her seventh appearance, dressed in a Balenciaga gown that paid tribute to the Black Madonna painting.
While preparing for the 2026 Met Gala, Yai expressed her excitement about her dramatic look, saying, "It’s going to make for a very dramatic entrance for a very dramatic night." She collaborated with stylist Carlos Nazario on her ensemble, who noted that the gown’s elaborate train would add to her impact on the red carpet.
