Anna Camp Shares Her Joy of Collaborating with Carrie Preston on ‘Elsbeth’ After Missing a Scene Together in ‘True Blood’
After recently appearing in a guest role on Season 3 of Elsbeth, Anna Camp took a moment to celebrate the world premiere of Scream 7 at Paramount Studios.
"I flew in last night and I’m getting on a plane at 1 a.m. after this party to go back to Elsbeth," Camp shared at the event. "It’s so great. Carrie Preston and I, we did True Blood together back in the day, but we never had any scenes together. So, we saw each other and we started squealing. We were so happy."
Preston portrayed Arlene Bellefleur, a waitress at Merlotte’s, throughout the seven-season run of HBO’s True Blood from 2008 to 2014, while Camp played the anti-vampire character, Sarah Newlin, during Seasons 2, 6, and 7.
In her upcoming role in Elsbeth, Camp takes on the character of Juliet Woodbent, described as a "very influencer mom." She elaborated, “I have like 6 children. I’m a perfectionist. I live in Brooklyn; I make everything by scratch. I’m one of those women that you want to throttle because they do everything by hand. So, it’s really, really fun.”
In Scream 7, set to premiere in theaters on Friday, Camp plays Jessica Bowden, the close friend and neighbor of Sidney Prescott, portrayed by Neve Campbell. Jessica’s son, Lucas, becomes engrossed in true crime, specifically the original 1996 Woodsboro murders. The film sees Sidney fighting to protect her family when a new Ghostface threatens her daughter, Tatum.
Reflecting on her experience in the Pitch Perfect franchise nearly a decade ago, Camp expressed openness to future musical projects. "I would if it was the right one," she said. "I like things a little offbeat, a little weird, a little wacky, a little strange. So, if there was a musical that had that tone to it, I would be very excited to do something like that."
