Animal Farm Trailer: Andy Serkis Brings an Updated Take on Orwell’s Classic Tale
Angel Studios Unveils Trailer for Animated Adaptation of George Orwell’s Animal Farm
Angel Studios has released a trailer for the highly anticipated animated film Animal Farm, directed by Andy Serkis. This adaptation of George Orwell’s renowned political allegory is set to hit theaters on May 1.
The film features an impressive voice cast, which includes Seth Rogen, Gaten Matarazzo, Steve Buscemi, Glenn Close, Laverne Cox, Kieran Culkin, Woody Harrelson, Jim Parsons, Kathleen Turner, Iman Vellani, and Serkis himself. It premiered last June at the Annecy Animation Film Festival, generating considerable excitement among audiences.
Serkis’s interpretation offers a contemporary perspective on Orwell’s narrative, originally penned in the mid-1940s amidst the rise of Stalinism in the Soviet Union. The story follows a group of farm animals who revolt against their owner, aspiring to create a utopia. However, the pigs among them ultimately seize control, leading to a society as oppressive as before.
The full title of the film, adapted by Nicholas Stoller, is Animal Farm: A Cautionary Tail.
Producers Jonathan Cavendish and Adam Nagle are joined by executive producer John Blas on this project.
