Angel City Tops Rival Bay FC to Keep Their Unbeaten Start Alive
Angel City Secures 3-1 Victory Against Bay FC
Angel City achieved a resounding 3-1 victory on the road against rivals Bay FC on Saturday, thanks to a standout performance from Sveindís Jónsdóttir, who scored two goals. Gisele Thompson also contributed to the scoreboard, marking a significant win for Angel City.
Jónsdóttir opened the scoring just three minutes into the match, finishing smoothly after receiving a precise long pass from Kennedy Fuller. The momentum continued as Jónsdóttir assisted Thompson in the 32nd minute, doubling Angel City’s lead.
In the second half, Jónsdóttir found the net again in the 54th minute, heading in a corner kick delivered by Evelyn Shores, pushing the score to 3-0. Bay FC managed to find some footing shortly after, with Taylor Huff scoring their only goal in the 55th minute. However, the midfielder’s afternoon ended on a sour note after receiving two yellow cards during stoppage time.
This match was particularly notable for Angel City defender Savy King, who made her first start since a cardiac event last May that required heart surgery. King played 82 minutes, showcasing her resilience and determination.
With this victory, Angel City ended a nine-match winless streak on the road. Their previous away victory was on May 2 against the Washington Spirit.
