Andrew Scott Joins HBO’s ‘The Comeback’ for Its Third Season
Actor Andrew Scott has been cast in the upcoming third season of HBO’s acclaimed comedy series The Comeback. Scott, known for his roles in Sherlock, All of Us Strangers, and Fleabag, will be joining a talented ensemble led by Lisa Kudrow. The cast also features Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, Damian Young, Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Jack O’Brien, Ella Stiller, John Early, Barry Shabaka Henley, Abbi Jacobson, Tony Macht, Brittany O’Grady, Zane Phillips, and Julian Stern.
Created by Michael Patrick King and Kudrow, The Comeback offers a satirical glimpse into the Hollywood entertainment industry. Kudrow stars as Valerie Cherish, a sitcom actress navigating the complexities of modern-day Los Angeles.
Originally airing its first season in 2005, the show took a nine-year hiatus before being revived for its third and final season, set to premiere in March 2026.
At a recent HBO content showcase in London, King discussed the evolving themes of the show, particularly how Kudrow’s character reflects contemporary societal obsessions with self-presentation. “Twenty years later everybody is Valerie,” he noted, highlighting the similarities between Cherish’s struggles and today’s social media culture. “Valerie now seems saner now.”
In an emotional revelation, Kudrow shared that The Comeback Season 3 connects to her iconic sitcom Friends, with some scenes filmed on Stage 24, famously known as the Friends stage at Warner Bros. Lot. “I did shoot something fun on the [Friends] couch… I had to guard myself every day we were on stage or I would cry, as it means so much to me,” she said.
Season 3 will see King and Kudrow serving as executive producers along with John Melfi and Dan Bucatinsky. Andrew Scott is represented by CAA, United Agents, Relevant, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
