Anaheim Woman Arrested in Mexico After Boyfriend’s Tragic Death
Alyssa Marie Lira Charged with Murder in Boyfriend’s Death
A 23-year-old resident of Anaheim, Alyssa Marie Lira, faces felony charges for the murder of her boyfriend, 55-year-old Enrique Gonzalez-Carbajal. Lira was arrested in Mexico and extradited to the United States to face the charges in Orange County.
Lira has been charged with one count of murder, along with a felony enhancement for personally using a weapon in the incident. Gonzalez-Carbajal’s decapitated body was found on August 25 inside Lira’s residence, as reported by investigators.
Authorities suspect Lira fled to Mexico soon after the murder. She was apprehended on January 22, following a five-month investigation conducted by Anaheim Police homicide detectives. This investigation involved cooperation with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office Organized Crime Unit, the FBI’s Orange County Resident Agency, and Mexican law enforcement.
If convicted on all charges, Lira could face a maximum sentence ranging from 26 years to life in prison. Her arraignment is set for February 13, though it remains unclear if she has legal representation at this time.
