Anaheim Union High School District Provides Free Laundry Services for Students
Anaheim School District Partners with Local Laundromats to Provide Free Laundry Services
In a progressive move, the Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) has joined forces with Superior Laundry and LaundryUp to offer complimentary laundry services to students in need. This initiative aims to ensure that all students have access to clean clothing, allowing them to focus on their academic pursuits.
The AUHSD board members unanimously approved the partnership, highlighting its commitment to supporting “the whole student.” This approach emphasizes the importance of addressing students’ needs beyond academics by providing essential resources that foster a conducive learning environment.
The program will provide students with laundry credits at Superior Laundry and LaundryUp, with nearly $9,000 allocated for this initiative. Patrick Lee, co-owner of Superior Laundry, expressed the significance of the partnership, stating, “They want to make sure their students’ basic needs are being met before they go into the classroom.”
With many families facing the challenges of multiple jobs and increasing living costs, Lee believes the program alleviates a considerable source of stress. Students in need will receive laundry cards preloaded with credits, along with complimentary laundry detergent and fabric softener.
Howard Lee, also a co-owner of Superior Laundry, stated, “We just want to be a good neighbor in the community, and our business model is ‘do well by doing good.’” He expressed hopes for further collaboration with additional school districts in the future.
Additionally, the Lee family plans to collaborate with district officials to establish free laundry drop-off and pick-up services at various Anaheim high schools, expanding support for students and their families.
