During the performance, Shark, an artist from the Gold Coast, donned an acoustic guitar while Hoppus played his signature bass. She later expressed her gratitude in a social media post, stating, “Thank you Mark Hoppus for inviting me to play such an iconic punk rock song with you! What an incredible evening. Extremely EMOtional.”
Hoppus is currently in Australia for his FAHRENHEIT-182 book tour, which launched with a sold-out event at Melbourne’s Recital Hall. His book discusses various topics, including his mental health journey, the fallout with former bandmate Tom DeLonge, his return to the band, and his battle with cancer. The classic lineup of Blink-182, featuring Hoppus, DeLonge, and Travis Barker, is set to perform in Australian arenas as part of their “One More Time” world tour in 2024.
Shark has a history of collaboration with all three members of Blink-182. She worked with Hoppus on “Psycho” from her debut album, Love Monster, released in 2018. The following year, she teamed up with Barker for “C’MON,” featured in her 2021 project, Cry Forever. More recently, DeLonge collaborated with her on “My Only Friend,” from her third album, Sunday Sadness, which is set for release in 2024.
All three of Shark’s albums have achieved No. 1 status on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Her upcoming fourth album, titled soft pop, is scheduled for release on Friday, July 31, and will include the lead single “The Biggest Dick.” Shark described the new collection as showcasing “a completely different sound, topics I finally found the words and melodies for.”
The FAHRENHEIT-182 tour, produced by Live Nation, continues in Melbourne on Thursday, March 19, and will conclude on Saturday, March 21 at the Sydney Opera House.
