Amanda Seyfried took to Instagram to voice her confusion over a remark made by Timothée Chalamet during his acceptance speech at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards. The awards ceremony took place on January 4, where Chalamet won Best Actor for his role in Marty Supreme.
During his speech, Chalamet, 30, expressed gratitude towards Kylie Jenner, whom he referred to as “my partner of three years.” He concluded his address with an emotional tribute: “Thank you for our foundation. I love you. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.” In response, Jenner, 28, was seen smiling and mouthing “I love you” from her seat.
Following the event, podcaster Evan Ross Katz shared highlights from Chalamet’s speech on Instagram. Seyfried commented, “OH not like a foundation/charity I was curious about that,” indicating her bewilderment regarding Chalamet’s phrasing.
Present at the Critics Choice Awards, Seyfried was also being recognized for her work in The Testament of Ann Lee, for which she received a Best Actress nomination. Meanwhile, Jessie Buckley ultimately won the category. Notably, both Seyfried and Chalamet previously appeared together in the 2015 holiday film Love the Coopers.
Chalamet acknowledged his nervousness while accepting the award, remarking, “more nervous than I thought I’d be,” as he highlighted fellow nominees including Leonardo DiCaprio, Joel Edgerton, Ethan Hawke, Michael B. Jordan, and Wagner Moura. He emphasized the significance of expressing gratitude in his speech, stating, “I got a lot of people to thank. I don’t know if I’ll be up here again, so give me a second.” Additionally, he praised director Josh Safdie for crafting a compelling narrative in Marty Supreme.
As both actors prepare for the upcoming 2026 Golden Globe Awards on January 11, Chalamet and Seyfried are amidst heated competition. Seyfried is uniquely positioned as a double nominee at the ceremony, also recognized for her work in the television series Long Bright River.
