Altadena Father Seeks Help in Finding Answers for His Son’s Unsolved Murder
Altadena Father Seeks Public Assistance in His Son’s Unsolved Murder
An Altadena father is appealing to the community for assistance as the investigation into his son’s 2023 murder remains unresolved. Daniel Ursitti, 27, was fatally shot at the family home in March 2023 following an incident linked to his online advertisement for psychedelic mushrooms.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Ursitti and his girlfriend were asleep when they were awakened by four male intruders who demanded "the stuff." Authorities reported that before Ursitti could react, one of the suspects shot him.
"We ask for your help," Richard Ursitti, Daniel’s father, implored. "If you know anything at all, we ask that you please come forward and help bring justice to this tragic loss that we’ve been dealing with."
Tragically, the family’s Altadena residence was destroyed in the 2025 Eaton Fire, further compounding their suffering.
When deputies arrived in response to a call regarding a burglary and shooting, they discovered Ursitti at the scene. He was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
In their ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s department has released security camera images depicting a suspect clad in a gray hoodie. The footage shows all four suspects prior to the shooting. According to officials, the assailants fled the scene in a vehicle resembling a white, second-generation Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck from 2015 to 2020.
Law enforcement is encouraging anyone with information about the incident to reach out to the Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or via their website.
