Alex Laferriere Shines with Key Three-Point Performance in Kings’ Victory Against Rangers
New York — Alex Laferriere led the Los Angeles Kings to a decisive 4-1 victory against the New York Rangers on Monday night, contributing a goal and two assists. The win marked the Kings’ third victory in their last five games.
Drew Doughty, Mikey Anderson, and Trevor Moore also found the back of the net for Los Angeles, while goaltender Darcy Kuemper recorded 21 saves throughout the match. Despite a strong performance from Rangers netminder Igor Shesterkin, who made 22 saves, the loss ended New York’s four-game winning streak.
Vincent Trocheck’s power-play goal just over two minutes into the third period prevented Kuemper from achieving his third shutout of the season. The Kings set the tone early, with Doughty scoring his fifth goal of the year with 6:31 remaining in the first period, a shot that Shesterkin could not track through a screen.
Anderson extended the lead to 2-0 just over four minutes into the second period, followed closely by Laferriere’s power-play goal 28 seconds later, bringing the score to 3-0. Trocheck’s 14th goal of the season saved the Rangers from a tenth shutout of the year.
The game also featured Artemi Panarin’s return to New York, following his trade to the Kings from the Rangers on February 4. In a subsequent deal, Panarin signed a two-year, $22-million extension with Los Angeles.
The Kings now look ahead to a two-game homestand, starting Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers.
