Adventure Time: Side Quests Coming Soon to Disney+ and Hulu
The beloved animated franchise Adventure Time is set to make a notable shift, as its latest spinoff, Adventure Time: Side Quests, will debut on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S. The series is scheduled to premiere on June 29, marking its first departure from the Warner Bros. Discovery platform.
Side Quests, produced by Cartoon Network Studios, was unveiled at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival. Notably, it was announced without an accompanying network, as the franchise’s previous iterations, including Adventure Time: Distant Lands and Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, had been featured on HBO Max. This change comes amid HBO Max’s reduction of content aimed at children and families.
The collaboration between Disney+ and Hulu for this release is particularly noteworthy given that both platforms typically cater to distinct audiences. This joint effort suggests a growing integration of content across Disney’s streaming services.
Side Quests follows young hero Finn and his magical dog, Jake, as they embark on whimsical adventures throughout the fantastical land of Ooo, encountering cloud people and battling evil along the way.
Finn the Human is voiced by Sasha Knight, while John DiMaggio reprises his role as Jake the Dog. Familiar faces will return, including Ice King (Tom Kenny), Princess Bubblegum (Hynden Walch), Marceline (Olivia Olson), and BMO (Niki Yang).
Showrunner and executive producer Nate Cash expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Making Side Quests felt like making the original Adventure Time, which felt like hanging out with art school buddies making professional cartoons. That sounds like a big sandwich of feelings, and it was! You’re going to love these NEW adventures with Finn & Jake!”
Adventure Time: Side Quests is executive produced by Cash, with Darrick Bachman serving as Story Editor. Victor Courtright and Niki Yang direct, Nick Cross acts as the Art Director, and Matthew Janszen composes the score.
