A Sneak Peek at ‘Hungry’: The New Hippo Thriller Featuring Madison Davenport
EXCLUSIVE: The first glimpse of the upcoming thriller Hungry has been unveiled, featuring Madison Davenport from Sharp Objects.
Set against the backdrop of the Louisiana swamplands, the film follows a group of holidaymakers who find themselves in a life-or-death struggle against a rampaging hippo after becoming disoriented.
Davenport is joined by a notable cast, including Joaquim de Almeida (Road House), Tracey Bonner (The Exorcism), Jim Meskimen (Apollo 13), Samantha Coughlan (Damage), Olivia Bernstone (Mood), Michel Curiel (She Hulk: Attorney At Law), and River Codack (Under the Bridge).
Written and directed by James Nunn, known for the One Shot trilogy, Hungry is produced by Ben Jacques, with executive production from Signature Films’ CEO Marc Goldberg and Head of Production & Development Sarah Gabriel, credited for works like Riff Raff and Trap House. The film’s sales will continue at this week’s European Film Market.
Ella Field, EVP of International Sales at Capture, expressed enthusiasm about the film, stating, “We are beyond excited to introduce a new animal apex killer to the film market, one that has been overlooked and underestimated despite its colossal stature and its ferocity. A new — very real — fear will be unlocked for all those attending the screening.”
International distribution deals have already been secured in several regions, including A contracorriente in Spain, CDC in Latin America, and Phoenicia in the Middle East. Other rights have been acquired by Daro in Eastern Europe, Garsu Pasaulio Irasai in the Baltics, and Shoval in Israel. Furthermore, rights extend to India (Lionsgate Play), Malaysia and Singapore (Suraya), Thailand (Sahamongkol), the Philippines (Pioneer), as well as Turkey (Tanweer), Mongolia (FilmBridge), and CIS (Exponenta).
