Ginuwine, a prominent figure in the R&B scene, proudly shares that he is a father of nine children. Known for hits such as "In Those Jeans," the singer has built a family rooted in love and connection.
The artist has four children with his ex-wife Solé; their relationship began in 1999 and culminated in marriage in 2003. Their family includes daughters Story Asaundra and Dream Sarae, as well as Solé’s daughters from a previous relationship, De’jan and Cypress. Despite their divorce in 2015, Ginuwine remains actively involved in the lives of De’jan and Cypress.
"The girls are very close," said Ginuwine, highlighting the bond among Story, Dream, De’jan, and Cypress. For Halloween 2022, he shared a picture of the girls dressed as characters from the Harry Potter series, captioning it “dad life.”
Ginuwine’s family is not only limited to those related by blood. He has five additional children from various relationships, though he tends to keep these kids out of the public eye, sharing only occasional birthday messages on social media.
Ginuwine’s Daughters with Solé
During their 12-year marriage, Ginuwine and Solé welcomed two daughters. Story Asaundra was born on March 28, 2001, followed by Dream Sarae. After their divorce, Solé married Professor Griff, a member of the hip-hop group Public Enemy, in 2017. Despite their new dynamics, Ginuwine has maintained a respectful friendship with Griff.
"In parenting, we must set a good example for our kids," he stated, emphasizing the importance of extending kindness and support even after difficult transitions.
Story and Dream frequently appear on their father’s social media, including a touching moment in May 2023 when Ginuwine posted a selfie with his daughters at Disney World, stating, “Had fun with my two shawtys at Disney world this week love y’all to life.”
Stepfather to De’jan and Cypress
Ginuwine also embraces his role as a stepfather to De’jan and Cypress. They have a close relationship despite the change in family structure, regularly appearing alongside him on social media.
In 2024, Ginuwine celebrated moments with De’jan and Cypress, sharing photos and expressing his love for them. "Great pics with my daughters love them always supporting @dejan.nicole @cypresssoleil ❤️," he wrote, reinforcing their bond.
De’jan’s Entrepreneurial Journey
De’jan has ventured into entrepreneurship, launching her own event planning business—Pink and Posh Events—in 2021. "My journey began with my passion for creativity and design," she shared, detailing her experience in curating personalized events.
A New Generation: Cypress
Cypress, who has a daughter named Sage (born on May 17, 2020), also balances motherly duties with entrepreneurial pursuits. She runs a herbal-infused hair and skincare line called Cypress Soleil Naturals, launched in 2018. Sage has had memorable experiences with her grandfather, joining him onstage during concerts and enjoying their special moments together.
Following in Their Parents’ Footsteps
Both Story and Dream aspire to follow their father’s artistic legacy. Story has performed at events, including a notable appearance at Essence Festival in 2024, where she expressed her gratitude for performing alongside her father after a five-year hiatus. Dream showed her musical talents by playing guitar during the same festival in 2019 and has started producing music herself.
Living Out of the Spotlight
While Ginuwine’s children—from De’jan, Cypress, Story, and Dream to his five others—generally lead private lives, he occasionally shares glimpses into their adventures. His Instagram features snapshots of others, including daughters Santana and Ginel and son Aye Yo El, underscoring his pride as a father.
As he remarked in a heartfelt post for his son’s birthday, “I’m glad to have you as my son love you youngen… stay focused, stay loving, stay positive and stay the best father you can be.”
Through thick and thin, Ginuwine remains dedicated to his growing family.
