- Born on February 19, 1960, Andrew is the third child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and he has three siblings: King Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward.
- His marriage to Sarah Ferguson, which lasted from 1986 until their divorce in 1996, produced two daughters: Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, previously known as Prince Andrew, shares two daughters with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.
The couple married in July 1986, and Ferguson became the Duchess of York. Throughout their marriage, they welcomed daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, but their relationship faced challenges. They separated in March 1992, just shy of six years together, and officially divorced in 1996.
In October 2025, amid escalating scandals related to Epstein, the couple surrendered their Duke and Duchess of York titles. Following this, Andrew lost his remaining royal titles and honors, a decision made by his brother, King Charles III. Notably, the titles of Beatrice and Eugenie remained unaffected. In February 2026, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office but was later released.
As the third child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Andrew’s early life was marked by royal privilege. Initially second in line to the throne, his position shifted to eighth due to the births of Prince William and Prince Harry and their offspring.
Here’s an overview of Andrew’s family, including his daughters and their place in the line of succession.

Andrew was born in Buckingham Palace and stands out as the first child born to a reigning monarch in over a century. He is the couple’s third child, following his elder siblings, Charles and Anne, with Prince Edward being the youngest.
Andrew completed his education at both Heatherdown Preparatory School and Gordonstoun boarding school in Scotland. He joined the Royal Navy in 1979, where he served for over two decades, including participation in the Falklands War. He retired in 2001 as a Commander. In 2022, amid ongoing controversies, he was stripped of his honorary military titles and royal roles.

As the younger brother of King Charles, Andrew held the position of second in line to the throne for 22 years. He attended Charles’s coronation on May 6, 2023, despite his lack of a formal role. Andrew has continued to participate in royal events, such as a family gathering for Christmas in December 2022 and an Easter service in April 2023.
Following his arrest in February 2026, King Charles issued a statement supporting law enforcement: “[The authorities] have our full and wholehearted support and cooperation. Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.

Andrew’s relationship with Sarah Ferguson began in childhood, as their fathers played polo together. Romantic feelings surfaced following a setup by Princess Diana in 1985. After a whirlwind courtship, the couple married in July 1986 at Westminster Abbey. Their relationship faced strains due to Andrew’s naval commitments, leading to their separation in 1992 and divorce in 1996.
Despite their separation, Andrew and Ferguson maintained a close relationship and co-parented their daughters. They lived together at Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park until their eviction in 2025. Since December 2025, Ferguson has reportedly left the U.K. and has not been seen publicly as of March 2026.

Andrew and Sarah welcomed their first daughter, Princess Beatrice, on August 8, 1988, and their second, Princess Eugenie, on March 23, 1990. In a 2016 interview, Ferguson spoke about their family dynamic, stating, “We’re very happy with the way things are. I think the great thing is we are the most extraordinary example of a unified family.”
Both Beatrice and Eugenie are now married; Beatrice wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020, while Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018. Following royal succession rules, Beatrice is ninth in line to the throne, with Eugenie positioned twelfth, coming after Beatrice’s children.
Beatrice has two daughters, Sienna Elizabeth and Athena Elizabeth, as well as a stepson, Christopher Woolf. Eugenie has two sons, August Philip and Ernest George. Amid ongoing scandals, both princesses are reportedly focused on protecting their children from the fallout surrounding their father’s controversies.
