### Selena Gomez Addresses Facial Hair Comment with Humor
Selena Gomez recently opened up about her beauty routine, humorously addressing a fan’s comment regarding her appearance. In an Instagram Stories post on December 16, the “Only Murders in the Building” star appeared makeup-free and shared insights about her skin condition, melasma.
In the video, Gomez recounted how a follower jokingly asked, “how do you shave your mustache?” She clarified, “I don’t have a five o’clock shadow—it’s my melasma.” Gomez acknowledged, “I take care of it and treat it, but yeah, it’s there.”
The actress, now 33, emphasized the importance of using sunscreen while discussing her skin issues. “I totally get it. It’s from the sun,” she explained, encouraging her followers to protect their skin from harmful UV rays.

Melasma, as described by the Cleveland Clinic, results in brown or blue-gray patches on the face, particularly the upper lip, neck, back, and arms. The condition can be triggered by sunlight or hormonal changes.
Gomez has previously discussed her struggles with acne and embraced her natural beauty. In a “Vogue” feature, she noted, “When I get stressed or get lazy with my routine, I break out more. It’s just part of it.” She believes that taking care of one’s skin contributes to overall well-being. “When you are taking care of your skin, you are taking care of your body and your mind and your soul,” she said.
Her commitment to skincare is intensified due to her lupus diagnosis, which emphasizes the necessity of using sunscreen. Gomez has also confronted speculation regarding cosmetic enhancements, addressing rumors about her appearance candidly. In 2024, she admitted to receiving Botox while clarifying that other speculation was unfounded. “Honestly, I hate this. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone,” she remarked in a TikTok video in response to speculation about her skin’s appearance.
