Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Finishes Production: Director Shares Hints About Metal Sonic and Exciting Movie Details
Sonic the Hedgehog is racing back to theaters as production on Sonic the Hedgehog 4 comes to a close. Director Jeff Fowler, who has directed all four films in the franchise, announced the wrap on Friday, sharing a set photo featuring himself alongside the character Metal Sonic.
“And that’s a wrap on #SonicMovie4!!!” Fowler posted on X. “On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we have filmed the BEST Sonic Movie yet and can’t wait to share.”
Scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2027, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 features Kristen Bell voicing Amy Rose, with Ben Schwartz reprising his role as Sonic. The cast also includes Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter.

The film is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara. The Sonic franchise has surpassed $1 billion in global box office revenue, with the last installment becoming the highest-grossing film of the series at over $490 million.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 opened at No. 1 in the U.S. for two consecutive weeks and topped charts in over 30 international markets, including the U.K., Mexico, Italy, and Australia. The film generated over $180 million in global consumer spending from home entertainment rentals and purchases.
