Remembering Donald Gibb: Celebrating the Life of the ‘Revenge of the Nerds’ Star at 71
Donald Gibb, widely recognized for his role as “Ogre” in the Revenge of the Nerds franchise, has passed away at the age of 71.
According to his son, Travis, Gibb died on Tuesday evening due to health complications.
Travis also mentioned that Gibb spent his final moments at his home in Texas, surrounded by family who loved him deeply.
TMZ reported that Gibb had been experiencing ongoing health issues leading to his death. The family has requested prayers and privacy during this difficult time, emphasizing that their father “will be deeply missed and forever remembered.”
Gibb became famous for portraying Frederick Aloysius “Ogre” Palowaski in the 1984 film directed by Jeff Kanew. He reprised this role in the 1987 sequel, Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise, and again in the TV film Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love in 1994.
His film credits include notable works such as Meatballs Part II (1984), Jocks (1986), They Still Call Me Bruce (1987), Amazon Women on the Moon (1987), Bloodsport (1988), and Hancock (2008), among several others.
In television, Gibb appeared in various guest roles, including in popular shows such as Magnum, P.I. (1982), The A-Team (1983), and The X-Files (1993). He was also a regular on the HBO sitcom 1st & Ten, which aired for six seasons and featured actors like Delta Burke and O.J. Simpson.
From 1993 to 1998, Gibb was featured in the ABC sitcom Step by Step. His diverse television appearances extended to shows such as Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper (1997) and The Young and the Restless (2003).
