Central East Secures Division 1-A State Football Championship Against Oxnard Pacifica
Fresno Central East Claims Division 1-A State Football Title with Victory Over Oxnard Pacifica
In a thrilling matchup, Fresno Central East emerged victorious against Oxnard Pacifica, securing a 42-28 win to claim the Division 1-A state football title. The defeat marks a disappointing conclusion for Pacifica, which aimed to rebound from last year’s loss in the 2-AA state final.
Central East’s powerful offense was pivotal in the game, spearheaded by quarterback Jelani Dippel, who achieved his 58th touchdown pass of the season. The explosive performance from Dippel and the team proved too much for the Tritons, known for their own high-scoring capabilities.
The championship game took place at Saddleback College, setting the stage for a clash between two formidable teams. Despite Pacifica’s efforts, this loss signaled the end of their unbeaten season, punctuating a challenging finish for the Tritons as they sought redemption on a grand scale.
