K-pop sensation aespa is ushering in a new era with their latest single, “WDA (Whole Different Animal),” aiming to inspire listeners to “feel somethin’.”
The Seoul-based girl group released the track on May 11, marking the first offering from their upcoming second studio album, LEMONADE. Collaborating with G-DRAGON, leader of fellow K-pop giants BIGBANG, the song amplifies aespa’s dynamic sound.
“WDA (Whole Different Animal)” showcases a bass and synth-heavy dance vibe infused with hip-hop influences. The lyrics alternate between English and Korean, and G-DRAGON’s rap enhances the track, particularly in its third verse. The song concludes with a repeated refrain: “She a whole different animal” and “Give me all smoke, gun powder, powder.”

Accompanying the single, aespa has unveiled a music video for “WDA (Whole Different Animal).” The visual blurs the boundaries between reality and the digital realm, featuring unsettling imagery as replicas of the group’s members multiply, challenging perceptions of authenticity. Ultimately, the video depicts the group breaking through chaos to reclaim their identities.
Awarded the 2025 Billboard Women in Music Group of the Year, aespa announced the release of their anticipated album LEMONADE in April. Set to launch on May 29, this forthcoming LP follows the group’s previous EP Whiplash, which reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200 in 2024. Shortly after the album release, aespa will embark on their fourth world tour, SYNK: COMPLæXITY, beginning August 7 in Seoul, before continuing across Asia, North America, and concluding in Europe.
