Gabriel Pec’s Late Goals Propel Galaxy to Win Against Atlanta
ATLANTA — Gabriel Pec’s late-game surge propelled the Los Angeles Galaxy to a 2-1 victory over Atlanta United on Saturday night, marking a significant turnaround for the team.
Pec netted two goals in quick succession, starting with an equalizer in the 74th minute set up by Marco Reus. He then took the lead just five minutes later with a solo effort, securing his first goals of the season. Reus, who substituted into the game in the 65th minute, contributed his fourth assist of the year, while Joseph Paintsil also assisted Pec’s tying goal, showcasing his own solid form with four assists in eight matches since returning from injury.
This match saw no goals scored until Jay Fortune, who entered in the 60th minute, put Atlanta United ahead in the 69th minute with his first goal of the season. It was also the third goal of his 63-match career.
In goal, JT Marcinkowski recorded two saves for the Galaxy, while Atlanta’s Lucas Hoyos made four saves. Both goalkeepers managed to keep a clean sheet during a scoreless first half.

With this victory, the Galaxy improved to 3-1-2 in their last six regular-season games, evening the all-time series against Atlanta United at 3-3-0. This win marks the Galaxy’s first triumph in Atlanta, after previously losing three matches to the team, including two away games.
