Ken Loach Brings ‘Land and Freedom’ to Cannes Alongside ‘Top Gun’ and ‘All the President’s Men’ in Cinéma De Plage Lineup
Cannes Film Festival Welcomes Ken Loach Back with Special Screening
Palme d’Or winner Ken Loach returns to the Cannes Film Festival for the first time in three years, presenting his acclaimed Spanish Civil War drama, Land and Freedom. The film will be featured in the Cinéma de Plage segment, which was announced today.
The screening is part of an impressive lineup that includes 11 films slated for the festival’s nightly open-air showings, held on Macé Beach, directly across from the Majestic Hotel.
Among the highlights, the festival will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Top Gun, featuring a special appearance by Charles H. Rivkin, CEO of the Motion Picture Association. Additionally, All The President’s Men, directed by Alan J. Pakula and starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, will also screen; it previously premiered in competition at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival.
A notable new entry, Molière, Cyrano and the Young King, a French period comedy-drama by Michel Leclerc, will make its world premiere in the same strand. The film stars Artus, Doria Tillier, Julia Piaton, and Franck Dubosc.
