BTS Connects with ARMY from Mexico’s Presidential Palace: Feeling the Amazing Energy
Trending on Billboard
On May 6, the members of BTS gathered with Mexico’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, at the National Palace. From a balcony, the K-pop group addressed a crowd of approximately 50,000 fans in Zócalo Square, as reported by the capital’s government.
The band excitedly communicated with their fanbase, known as ARMY, delivering heartfelt messages in both Spanish and English. Their presence sparked applause, joy, and even tears among local fans, who had braved the heat for hours ahead of three concerts scheduled to begin on May 7 in the capital as part of their ARIRANG tour.
Although their balcony appearance lasted just five minutes, it was a moment many fans had long awaited to see their idols up close.

RM was the first to speak, expressing gratitude for the love from their Mexican fans. “Muchas gracias for having us,” he said. “We can’t wait for tomorrow’s concert on stage. Let’s have fun together! Te amo. Te quiero. Muchas gracias.”
V followed, admitting, “Hello. I don’t speak Spanish very well, but I will try. I’ve missed you. We’ve missed Mexico so much. The energy here is incredible. Thank you so much for loving us so much. See you next time. Goodbye,” he said, reading from his phone.
The band appeared thrilled with the turnout at Constitution Plaza. Dressed in elegant beige and navy suits, they attempted to capture the energy of their fans with their own cameras.
“I already told them that they have to come back next year,” said Sheinbaum, echoing the wishes of many who hope for a free concert by BTS in the Zócalo.
Following the event, Sheinbaum shared a message on social media, accompanied by a photograph with the seven members of BTS. “I warmly welcome one of the most beloved groups among the youth of Mexico: BTS,” she wrote. “Music and values unite Mexico and South Korea.”
However, the president’s invitation drew mixed reactions from some ARMY members on social media, who urged her not to politicize the group’s visit.
BTS is set to perform three sold-out concerts at GNP Seguros Stadium on May 7, May 9, and May 10. Promoter Ocesa reported that over 136,000 tickets were sold for these shows.
Sheinbaum has voiced support for the desires of ARMY Mexico members, noting that tickets for the concerts sold out in under an hour. In a letter to her South Korean counterpart, Lee Jae Myung, she formally requested more concerts in the country. Three weeks after her request, she announced that South Korea had indicated it would forward her appeal to HYBE, the management company for BTS.
