The Chemical Brothers’ track “Go,” originally released in 2015, has experienced a significant surge in streaming following its feature in the Netflix thriller Apex.
After its inclusion in the film, released on April 24, the song saw a remarkable 429% increase in streaming. It garnered 92,000 on-demand streams in the week prior to the film’s release (April 17-23) and jumped to 487,000 streams during the week following (April 24-30), according to Luminate data.
Before Apex debuted, “Go” averaged between 13,000 to 14,000 daily streams. This figure surged to 127,000 by April 30. Currently, the song holds the No. 5 position on the Dance Digital Song Sales chart.

The song is featured in a pivotal scene of Apex, where the protagonist, Sasha (played by Charlize Theron), must evade Ben (played by Taron Egerton), who ominously gives her until the end of “Go” to escape before he pursues her.
Egerton was instrumental in choosing the song for the film. In a recent interview with Decider, director Baltasar Kormákur explained, “Originally in the script, [the line was] ‘Ten minutes, and I’ll come after you.’ We came up with this idea that he was going to put on a song, and when the song is over [he comes after her]. Then came all kinds of ideas of songs. I didn’t want a disco song or something like that.”
“Taron brought this song by The Chemical Brothers,” Kormákur continued, “and I was like, ‘That’s perfect.’ Not everyone was of that mind in the beginning. There was a lot of, ‘Oh no, no, no, it’s not the right song.’ I said, we’re doing this, and then we can do another version if we feel like that doesn’t work — try another song. Then Taron did [the scene], and the whole crew and everyone involved was like, ‘That’s it. It’s perfect.’ They could see it like it worked.”
As of now, Apex is ranked No. 1 on Netflix’s weekly top 10 global films and series.
Featuring vocals from Q-Tip, “Go” was released in May 2015 as the second single from The Chemical Brothers’ eighth studio album Born in the Echoes. The song spent three weeks on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in August 2015, peaking at No. 40.
