Sabrina Carpenter Shines on the Met Gala 2026 Red Carpet with a Stunning Look
Sabrina Carpenter Shines at 2026 Met Gala with Unique Style
Pop star Sabrina Carpenter made a striking appearance at the 2026 Met Gala, showcasing her personal flair following last year’s mixed reviews. The event, held on May 4 at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, embraced the theme of "Costume Art."
Carpenter, 26, adorned a custom Dior dress designed by Jonathan Anderson, which she described as "all made of film, which is my dream." The outfit featured a tulle design with rhinestone film strips, evoking the elegance of Audrey Hepburn’s iconic 1954 film Sabrina.
This marked Carpenter’s fourth attendance at the Met Gala. She first dazzled in a shimmering gold two-piece ensemble by Paco Rabanne in 2022, followed by an Oscar de la Renta gown the subsequent year that encapsulated a princess aesthetic. In 2025, she made headlines by donning a daring Louis Vuitton bodysuit that featured a long train and a tuxedo jacket, prompting mixed reactions from fashion critics and fans alike.
Discussing her bold 2025 look, Carpenter credited Pharrell Williams, the men’s creative director at Louis Vuitton, for its conception. "If I could go this year with him, that would be my dream. And it came true," she told Vogue, adding how Williams advised against pants due to her height.
While some applauded her adventurous spirit, others argued that it missed an opportunity to showcase tailored designs during the theme "Tailored for You." Critics expressed that her stature could have been enhanced with better tailoring, and social media users engaged in discussions about potential outfit improvements.
In response to online critiques, Carpenter humorously addressed the backlash on X, stating, “Damn I f***ed up.”
Despite the divided opinions, Carpenter expressed excitement about her outfit, particularly looking forward to experiencing the practicality of her attire. "Never been to the bathroom once because I’ve never been able to use it in my outfit. So tonight might be the night,” she noted.
Since last year’s Met Gala, Carpenter has continued to flourish in her career, releasing her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, in August 2025, and securing a headlining spot at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.
