Amy Kaplan from ‘Golden Bachelor’ Shares Why She Chose a $75K Facelift
Golden Bachelor Alum Amy Kaplan Discusses Her Decision for a Facelift
Amy Kaplan, known for her appearance on Golden Bachelor, has opened up about her choice to undergo a costly facelift. In an interview with People, released on May 3, the 63-year-old shared her motivations for pursuing the deep-plane procedure.
“I’ve been talking about it for a while,” said Kaplan. “But, you know, I’m like four and a half, five years out from all that. So I decided that I’m feeling really good. I work out a couple of hours a day, I eat healthy, so I’m like, ‘All right, I’m ready. We’re going to do this.’”
Kaplan expressed that the decision stemmed from a disconnect between her appearance and how she felt inside. She consulted with Dr. Patrick K. Davis, a facial plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, who informed her that the procedure would cost “around the $75,000 range.”
She detailed the nature of her surgery, stating, “I have a sad look because my lips frown because when everything starts drooping, you look sad. I’m doing my neck, I’m doing my face. He goes vertical, so it brings the cheeks back up. It’s a deep-plane vertical. He calls it, they call it a vertical lift.”
Following the surgery, Kaplan reported feeling “really good” and stated she has “no” regrets. “I was back at the gym, I would say, probably two weeks after the procedure,” she noted. “I waited until about, like, a good four or five weeks. I started doing lightweights and now it’s just going to be eight weeks today, I think. And I’m back at the gym lifting.”
Kaplan admitted to initial concerns about the recovery period but found the experience less painful than anticipated. Instead of suffering from significant pain, she described her feelings as “discomfort.”
“I look just like myself, but, you know, the younger version of me,” she added. “Now my face is matching my body and my soul and spirit. So far, [my daughters are] so happy. They said, ‘Mom, you look like you did 10 years ago. You look really good. It’s so natural.’”
Kaplan was a contestant on the second season of The Golden Bachelor, where she competed for the affections of Mel Owens. After her departure from the show, Owens chose to pursue a relationship with Peg Munson. Kaplan also expressed interest in potentially taking on the role of the next Golden Bachelorette.
“Well, if they call me, I would definitely answer,” she stated. “I have to say that that would be more of a better, let’s say, scene of events for me because I would be the one they are picking and they would have to compete for me.”
She emphasized her desire for a meaningful connection, asserting, “Of course, I would only be with them if there was a connection. And I would not have to chase after a man. I mean, how backwards is that? I’ve never chased after a man in my life. They need to come to me.”
