NASCAR Family Drama “Godspeed” Coming to Amazon, Led by Joe Pokaski and Scott Stuber
Amazon Developing NASCAR Family Drama ‘Godspeed’
Amazon is in the early stages of developing a NASCAR family drama titled Godspeed, crafted by Underground co-creator Joe Pokaski, alongside Scott Stuber’s United Artists and Sugar23. A writers’ room is currently forming, with hopes to commence shooting in early 2027, contingent upon the project receiving a green light from Prime Video.
Set against the backdrop of the high-stakes world of NASCAR racing, Godspeed follows the story of Parrish Motorsports, the last family-owned team in Stock Car Racing with roots tracing back to the original bootleggers. The narrative intensifies when a tragic crash claims the life of the owner and driver, leaving the owner’s widow, Virginia, to unite her fractured family in a bid to save their team, uphold their legacy, and pursue a championship.
Should it receive a series order, Godspeed would align with Prime Video’s NASCAR coverage, which is set to launch with the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Pokaski will executive produce through his Wandering Rocks Productions. Stuber, along with Patrick Chu, will produce for United Artists, while Michael Sugar, Ashley Zalta, and Margaux Swerdloff will oversee production at Sugar23. Gladys Cheng and Tim Clark will represent NASCAR in a producing capacity.
Pokaski brings a wealth of experience, having co-created and served as co-showrunner on WGN America’s acclaimed drama Underground, which focused on the Underground Railroad. He also created and led the show Cloak & Dagger for Freeform. His extensive résumé includes work on Heroes, Daredevil, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Pokaski is represented by WME and Michael Sugar at Sugar23.
