SIMI VALLEY, Calif. — A tragic incident unfolded on April 25 when a 13-year-old student riding an e-bike was struck by an Amtrak train at the crossing of Sequoia Avenue and Los Angeles Avenue.
The student, who attended the Simi Valley Unified School District, was riding southbound along the east sidewalk of Sequoia Avenue. As the teenager approached the railroad crossing, reports indicate that they failed to stop at the signals and were hit by the oncoming train. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, but the victim succumbed to their injuries.
Simi Valley police have expressed their condolences to the community in light of this incident. "This is a heartbreaking loss for the Simi Valley community, and our thoughts are with the family, friends, and classmates affected by this tragedy," the department stated.
